Well this year for spring break we decided to try out Miami Beach. Although it was not exactly what we expected, we had a great time! Basically what I’m saying is if you are planning a trip to Miami, plan well. We weren’t completely prepared for how spread out this area is, but with the free trolley and Uber we made it work!
I didn’t really have anything to go by ahead of time or really know of anything to do in Miami until we got there and I started searching the web. So I’m going to share with ya’ll some of the things that we enjoyed.
1. The Beach of course! I love to just lay in the sun and relax. In past beach trips I would just sun tan and swim because I’ve never really had a big interest in reading… well this year I decided to buy Girl, wash your face and take it with me. I have to say this will be the first chapter book that I have ever loved enough to finish.
2. Wynwood Walls. This would probably be my next favorite area that we visited while in Miami. It was like nothing I had ever saw before and just walls and walls of graffiti and artwork. Wynwood Walls also has a restaurant and a gift shop. This is a must see!
3. Lincoln Mall Road was the place to be for anyone that enjoys shopping, eating, movies, or hanging out. I personally loved how laid back this area was and how much it offered in just one location. This area was also walking distance to other areas that offered more unique shopping.
4. Sugar Factory. Closer to the end of our trip I discovered there was a Sugar Factory in the south beach area so we made our way down there. I never thought I would ever spend so much on a milkshake…. well I did. This was one of those once in a lifetime, “you just got to do it” kinda things! And I will say it was the best milkshake I have ever had (thankfully). They have tons of other sweets and also a restaurant and gift shop.
5. Miami Design District. This area is also for those that love to shop and also those that love to dream that they could afford that $38,000 watch or $1,000 shirt. But either way its a place to see and experience. We enjoyed this area on our last day because it was only about 5 and half miles from the airport.
6. Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami. I always enjoy looking at some good artwork so this was a must for me. It was also free, so that’s a plus! I didn’t get the greatest pictures while I was there, but I’ll share a few anyways!
7. Lummus Park Beach. This park was gorgeous and was right along side of south beach. If we would have made it to this area on a day that wasn’t extremely windy we would have been able to enjoy it a little more, but it was still a great area. It has great playgrounds, volleyball nets, plenty of space to jog, and tons of grassy areas to lay in sun or relax under the palm trees.
8. Walking! Whenever I go to a new city I love walking around to see what I can run into or find. On this trip I found a super cool ice cream truck, a giant solo cup, and more walls of art. Since I love exploring new areas and seeing things that are just different, this was the icing on the cake.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
I have been blessed to travel a little bit this year already and my goal is to plan some kind of trip every month for this rest of this year….. so I need help! Please comment on this post places you have been and things you have done that you really enjoyed and that are toddler friendly!
Ya’ll are amazing… much love!!
Something on your mind....?
