This week we finally got a little snow here in my parts of Tennessee! Normally they talk for days about snow coming, they close all the schools, and then we get almost nothing! Well this time we heard snow storm (“the 2019 blizzard”), so all the schools closed, all the roads salted, everyone got their milk and bread…. and boom, we got two inches!!!! I know its the south and we don’t know how to handle much snow.
A few weeks ago I went up to Ohio to visit family and it actually snows up there. Of course they drove through it like it was nothing (they stay prepared for snow), while I slid around hoping they saw my TN tags and would understand (come to find out my front tires were terribly bald and I am getting new ones this weekend!). Obviously I wasn’t prepared for that kind of weather!
Changing the subject a little…
Have you ever thought about how beautiful and pure it is after a really solid snow? Every time it snows (no matter how much), I find myself in awe of how gorgeous everything appears to be. Almost like underneath it all there’s nothing ugly or gross, like it all got washed away!
It makes me go way back to the day that our ugly and gross sins got washed away. The day that God sent His only son Jesus Christ to die a slow and painful death. He died not only to save us from a burning hell but to allow us to have a personal relationship with God. This relationship would prepare us for everything life puts us through and give us the strength we need to be successful Christians.
Just like my tires were not prepared for that Ohio weather, some are not prepared for life after death. Driving on that snow was a scary mess (just like life can be sometimes), I was nervous and anxious. Not being prepared for life after death should be more frightening than an uncomfortable situation that we aren’t prepared for. Jesus Christ paid the way for us to have life more abundantly and to be prepared for the storms thrown at us. But He also died so that we would not have to live eternal life in hell!
He wanted better for us… Like streets of gold and walls of jasper, jewels and pearls, and everything made just for us, His children. (I’m pretty excited about my mansion too!)
“In my Fathers house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” -John 14: 2-3
How do you become prepared?? “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life;…” (John 3:36).
It is simple… I was taught as a child the “ABC Salvation”
- A- admit that you are a sinner and you aren’t perfect,
- B- believe that Jesus (God’s son) died for your sins and rose up from the grave three days later, and
- C- confess with all your heart that He is God.
After taking these 3 steps and praying to Him for forgiveness for all of your sins (knowing you are going to be a new YOU!)…. YOU ARE FORGIVEN! YOU ARE A CHILD OF THE ONE HIGH GOD!!!
I know it sounds way to easy but that’s it… God is not that complicated!
I say all that because I love you all!! My job as a Christian is to share the gospel and to plant seeds that He will harvest.
| If you want to talk more about Salvation or your relationship with Jesus Christ I would love to talk. By no means do I know all the answers but I can try to help you find them, if I don’t. |
Something on your mind....?
