I know I’m a few weeks late for Valentines Day and talking about love, but on Valentine Day I had the sweetest time sharing the sacrifices of love in our gymnastics class.
As we all know when you love someone you are willing to make sacrifices for them. For a mother it may be going without things so that your child has everything they need. For a father it may be sacrificing time away working extra shifts to make sure they can make ends meet. For grandparents it may be sacrificing your retirement to raise your grandchildren. There’s so many ways that we find ourselves making sacrifices for those we love.
So after training that day we talked about the sacrifices that God has made for us. The biggest one being the death of His only Son. While talking about His sacrifice one of my gymnast ask, “Why did He have to sacrifice His son, couldn’t He have sacrificed something else?”
My answer (praying she would understand how important this subject really is):
“If I told you that I loved you so much that I would sacrifice a cow for you would you think that I really loved you?” She replied, “not really…”
“But if I told you that I loved you so much that I would sacrifice my own child to save your life and give you the chance to have a lasting relationship with God, would you think that I really loved you?” She replied, “yes!”
You see… God sacrificed His only son for us because it required a perfect payment! The sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross was that perfect payment. There was no other payment.
Even in my mind it seems so crazy… His love for us is so crazy! I could never in a million years sacrifice Abrams life for someone else because I love my children more than I could ever explain! But that’s just it….
His love for us is beyond big and beyond crazy!
If you’re not sure what this all means or maybe you don’t know Jesus Christ as your personal savior please chat with me. I know sometimes Christianity can be confusing, but I’m willing to help you get through those confusions.
I promise it is worth it! To have a relationship with someone that loves you so so much is the only thing that will ever fill the void inside you that has been empty for so long.
Love ya’ll tons!
Something on your mind....?
