My kids are so much like me it’s dangerous around here right now! A small house full of busy bees! This easily makes it hard for me to keep them occupied and content, when I also want to be busy doing things I want to get done. So I am forcing myself into daily crafts with my children (I made that sound terrible, but I think all you moms and dads understand the struggle of craft consistency with kids).
So we hope you can join in on the fun and do these with us! I know your craft supplies may be slim to none during this time, but make due with what you have and just have some fun!!!!
We will share our photos with ya’ll on our Instagram story as we finish them during the week (I will also add them to the craft highlight for everyone to view anytime). I’m sharing some of the photos below that I pulled from Pinterest to get us started. We would really, really love for you to share some of your photos on your story and tag us so we can share them too. (Let’s spread some fun and inspire others to do the same right now!)
Monday:
A Rainbow! (Noah and God’s promise. Genesis 9) Cut up 5-6 different colors of paper in small pieces (if your kids are able, let them) and prepare a cardboard or a poster board shaped rainbow. Draw some arched lines on the rainbow to guide them! Once you get them started talk about God’s promise!
Tuesday:
Cross Chalk Art. (The cross, our sins, and how to be forgiven. 1 Peter 2:24) (Let’s use our imagination and pretend the bunny above is a cross. I couldn’t exactly find an inspiration for the cross.) Give each kid a large black poster board or any black paper that you have (if you are using chalk). Have a cross cut out and ready for them to trace! (If you have white paper and paint or crayons, that will work too!!!) After they trace the cross they can decorate it while you talk about the cross and everything it represents!
Wednesday:
An Egg of Buttons! (God created every living thing. Psalm 139:13-18) Take a collection of buttons or beads (anything small that you have a lot of, use cut up paper if you need to). Draw the shape of an egg (or a body) and while they glue all these little craft supplies to this egg, discuss with them how God stitched us together (piece by piece) in our mothers womb!
Thursday:
Paper Plate Snail. (Slowing down for Jesus. ) Give each kid a paper plate, some contraction paper for the snails head, find some eyes, and some craft supplies to decorate the snails shell (the plate or a round piece of paper). While they decorate the shell talk about how important it is to slow down for Jesus. To give Jesus more of our respected time than we give to anything else!
Friday:
A Family Tree. (Talking about the importance of family and putting God at the center of our family tree. Matthew 22:37-40) This craft is for the family to do together. I’m using a large poster board and having the tree already drawn out. I have buttons (can you tell I have thousands of buttons and post board already?) to use to signify each person in our family. We will then label each button, putting our biggest button representing our Savior! While doing this activity we will talk about how God is the center of our family, our life, and out future. He holds us together!
I love you all and I can’t wait to see what ya’ll come up with! DO NOT strive for perfection, let them be creative and just spend quality time with your kiddos. PLEASE don’t forget to share with us your crafts, even if you do them in a different order or make something different!!
